The Perfect Introduction

Is there such a thing as the perfect introduction?

Everyone wants to put the best foot forward so everyone will like them. Fear and looking for that final piece that lets you know that “Yes! This is perfect and now everyone can see it!”

As a recovering perfectionist I am actively striving to be un-apologetically myself and put myself out there unpolished, unrehearsed. Nothing needs to be perfect, it needs to be started.

This past year I have had many moments that could easily be defining moments of what has ultimately lead me to this path of developing this page; and I don’t believe it’s coincidence that it is ready today – my birthday! So I wanted to introduce myself…

My name is Haylie and I am an educator, advocate, mother of two, physiotherapist and an entrepreneur. I am also on my own unique battle through cancer.

You see, in the past 6 months I was diagnosed and began treatment for breast cancer, my soul dog Gus died (also of cancer), and we are now in the midst of a global pandemic.

I have been feeling an intense desire to bring my story and experiences forward to a space where I can speak my truth, be vulnerable and ultimately be 100% me. If my sharing brings even one person the answers or connection I was looking for when I started my journey, allows someone the courage to speak up for what they deserve, or has you reaching out to someone you love, I would be happy.

One of the things I love most is educating and speaking. Teaching others and connecting through stories, experience and a love of statistics is my jam.

I will be bringing you all up to speed over the coming weeks to catch you up on where I am at. So please join me!

  6. I am so sorry to hear of your cancer diagnosis. I follow your posts on FB about potty training etc and we also live in Warman. You write beautifully and I’m glad I stumbled on these posts. My girlfriend is also battling metastatic breast cancer and doing very well. I certainly don’t understand your journey, but know that even those who don’t know you well, are praying for you and your family.

    1. Thank you Jen! I am sorry to hear about your friend, there do appear to be significantly more treatments available and positive progress for metastatic cancers these days. We appreciate the love and support!
